Summary: Custom-made orthoses for lower extremities can enable patients with neurological indications to walk or contribute significantly to improving their gait. For the efficacy of an orthosis, however, the orthosis alignment, which has been determined during the making of the negative cast, is decisive. Until today, there has neither been the appropriate technical equipment for transferring the individual normal posture with its correct joint angles to a negative cast nor any well-structured instructions. A new production technique and a new tool shall help to avoid mistakes during the planning of the treatment and the making of the negative cast.
